Castle Air Museum Tour What: Congressman Cardoza will be taking a tour of Castle Air Museum to see some of the recent improvements and changes at the museum as well as meeting with some of the volunteers who work to restore the historic aircraft and commend their recent efforts on both the new F-14 Tomcat and the A-4 Skyhawk that they’ve put on display. Newman Fall Festival What: Congressman Cardoza will be attending Newman Fall Festival Parade and Community Celebration. Where: Downtown Newman When: 11 a.m., Sunday August 31.

Veterans Advisory Committee Meeting What: Congressman Cardoza will meet with his Veterans Advisory Committee. The group is made up of several veterans organizations and leaders from Stockton to Merced and help advise the Congressman on issues affecting them and other veterans. Scout Recognition Ceremony What: Congressman Cardoza will join Modesto Police Chief Roy Wasden in honoring and recognizing a group of African American teenagers involved in a mentoring program. Where: King Kennedy Center, Modesto When: 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 2.

South Stockton Community Meeting What: Congressman Cardoza will be meeting with the South Stockton Community Congressional Committee. The group is made up of several residents and leaders of South Stockton and meets quarterly. The group aims to provide input on issues affecting the residents of South Stockton. Digital TV Transition Community Awareness Meeting Hosted by Congressman Dennis Cardoza What: On February 17, 2009 all television stations will begin broadcasting using a digital signal, a significant departure from the traditional analog airwaves used. As a result, those without a digital television will no longer have access to broadcasting without a conversion box or new digital TV. Congressman Cardoza is especially concerned about the impact of this on low-income, elderly and rural residents of the 18th Congressional District. He will be hosting a community meeting, in which he’ll have several federal communications agencies present, to provide information and assistance to those affected by the change. House Committee on Financial Services field hearing on Central Valley Housing Crisis What: At the request of Congressman Cardoza, the powerful House Committee on Financial Services will conduct a field hearing to receive testimony on the current foreclosure and housing crisis in the Central Valley. Committee Chairman Barney Frank will chair the meeting. The Financial Services Committee oversees all components of the nation’s housing and financial services – including banking, real estate, insurance, public and assisted housing, and securities.
