Title: Alliance Program Results and Successes - Safety and Health Topics Pages
Content: Screen Capture of OSHA's Basic Steel Products Safety and Health Topics Page

[Includes the Alliance and OSHA logos]

    Speaker Notes:

Safety and Health Topics pages are in-depth, comprehensive tools offering a wide variety of information on more than 150 industries or hazards to provide users with comprehensive reference materials including:

-Links to all relevant OSHA standards, federal registers, directives and standard interpretations.
-Links to government agencies, academia and trade associations and where to find additional resources.
-Information on hazards and solutions for the topic.
    -Training materials.
Alliances often create the opportunity for participants to provide additional contributions and improvements to the extensive information within the Safety and Health Topics pages.

Through the OSHA and ISSA Alliance, representatives from ISSA collaborated and provided expertise and input into the development of a Cleaning Industry Safety and Health Topics page. This new section of the Safety and Health Topics page was launched in December 2007.

The basic steel products industry is involved in manufacturing hot metal, pig iron, and silvery pig iron from iron ore and iron and steel scrap. It also converts pig iron, scrap iron, and scrap steel into steel, and hot rolls iron and steel into basic shapes such as plates, sheets, strips, rods, bars, and tubing. This industry also uses blast furnaces and coke ovens.

This page is a product of the OSHA Alliance with the Crane, Hoist and Monorail Manufacturers.
