Hello All,
I am new to this list. I teach adult EL Civics and GED for Richmond,
Virginia Public Schools.
Could anyone direct me to some research or studies of programs that have
offered native language-assisted English GED instruction for ESL adults?
By this I mean, learners having the opportunity to ask for clarification
of English language material in their first language. Obviously an
instructor would have to work with a homogeneous first language class to
be inclusive. I've been told that issues with funding can arise if
languages other than English are used in the GED classroom. I would like
to gather info on the subject for a Research Methods class I'm taking for
an Adult Literacy degree.
Thanks
