Bursch Break U.S. Space Flight Endurance Record
During Expedition 4's 196 days in space, Flight Engineers Carl Walz
and Dan Bursch broke the U.S. space flight endurance record. The
previous record was 188 days. Walz
is second for the most cumulative time in space by a U.S. astronaut
with 231 days, and Bursch is third with 227 days. Expedition 8 Commander
Michael Foale has the most cumulative time in space for U.S. astronauts.
He surpassed Walz on Dec. 8, 2003. This was Expedition 4 Commander
Yury Onufrienko's second long-duration flight, giving him a total
of 389 days.

2002, Flight Engineer Dan Bursch submitted a report
marking 120 days in space for the Expedition 4 crewmembers.
