I would be very interested, Audrey. If you have notes from your
discussions, I'd love to share your insights from those as well.

Subject: [EnglishLanguage 2520] Learning Circles

Hi,
My name is Audrey and I participated in the ESL Reading Institute held
in Houston. As the facilitator for our Learning Circles, I found it to
be a very rewarding and enriching experience. I met monthly with four
ESL teachers to discuss instructional strategies and how they were
implemented in the classroom, we also discussed and/or demonstrated how
the Reading Lessons were used in the classroom and we were able review
literature that was shared in the Institute.

Additionally, we made time to reflect on what worked and what did not
work. The Learning Circle was an excellent vehicle to meet with
colleagues to share our successes and/or concerns regarding reading for
the ESL learners.

I have enjoyed participating in this listserv, it is very similar to our
Learning Circle without having to leave the house. Let me know if you
would like more information on Learning Circles and how they worked for
us.

Audrey

EnglishLanguage Learners begins

Dear subscribers,

I am happy to announce that our discussion on reading and adults
learning English as a second language is beginning. Heide Wrigley will
be facilitating this discussion along with Texas practitioners who have
been working on a project related to reading. I look forward to hearing
what they have to share, butI also look forward to hearing many of your
experiences, questions, and answers about this important topic.
