AQA Invitational Meeting Summary

Opening Remarks

Carolyn Clancy, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)

In opening the meeting, Carolyn Clancy stressed that transparency and participation have been hallmarks of the AQA process from the start. As part of that transparency, a summary of each meeting is posted on the AQA Web site, along with summaries from workgroup conference calls and text of AQA documents.

Dr. Clancy said the AQA's efforts to operate by consensus have generally worked well, but that some issues have proven more difficult to address. She said the AQA Steering Committee has been reviewing the AQA's governance model and has made some preliminary recommendations.

Clancy then turned the meeting over to John Tooker of the American College of Physicians to discuss governance.
