2002 Economic Census: Subject Series — Fifty-seven reports for several industry sectors — all at the national level — are now being issued on a flow basis. These reports include information such as product shipments by contributing industries. All 883 geographic area series reports and 651 industry reports have been published. Survey-Related

Consolidated Federal Funds Report for Fiscal Year 2004 (State and County Areas) — Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid account for more than $1 trillion of the $2.2 trillion the federal government spent in 2004, according to the only consolidated source of data on the geographic distribution of federal expenditures. The report also reveals expenditures for the Department of Homeland Security, the first full year that this data has been included, and the Defense Department. The data cover direct payments, grants, procurement awards, and salaries and wages, by federal agency and program, for state and county areas of the United States, including the District of Columbia and U.S. outlying areas. (Scheduled for release Dec. 27.)

2004 Service Annual Survey: Truck Transportation, Couriers and Messengers, and Warehousing and Storage Sector (NAICS 48/49) — Data including industry tabulations on general freight trucking, couriers and local messengers, warehousing and storage, size and origin of shipments and commodities handled. (Tentatively scheduled for release late-December.)

2004 Service Annual Survey: Health Care and Social Assistance (NAICS 62) — Data on revenues by ambulatory health-care services, hospitals, physicians’ offices, nursing and residential care facilities and social assistance firms. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-January.)

Facts for Features

Women’s History Month: March 2006 — From mom to “G.I. Jane,” women play a variety of roles. We celebrate all these roles in March when we honor women with their own commemorative month. This fact sheet provides statistical information on the number of mothers, women in the military and a whole host of other topics relating to women. Data come from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release early-January.)

St. Patrick’s Day and Irish-American Heritage Month — The luck of the Irish might be with you if you utilize this compendium of statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas. The facts pertain to St. Patrick’s Day 2006 and Americans of Irish ancestry. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-January.)

Radio

Profile America and Al Dia (Spanish) for January — Upcoming segments include “First Radio Broadcast” (Jan. 13), “Martin Luther King, Jr.” (Jan. 15) and “First Televised Presidential News Conference” (Jan. 25). Looking a bit further ahead, Profile America will commemorate Black History Month with a special CD release for February.
