Survey-Related

Income, Poverty, Health Insurance Coverage and American Community Survey: 2003 — On Aug. 26, the Census Bureau will hold a news conference to release the consolidated report on 2003 money income, poverty and health insurance coverage for the nation — results based on the Current Population Survey. Simultaneously, the Census Bureau will release income and poverty data from the 2003 American Community Survey for states and other areas with populations of 250,000 or more. (Scheduled for release on Aug. 26.)

Local Employment Dynamics: A Profile of Older Workers — These reports focus on older workers by industry, their age, job gains and losses, the industries in which they are concentrated, job stability and earnings. (The report for Virginia is tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 8.)

Current Population Survey Data Collection — On Aug. 15, Census Bureau field representatives will begin interviewing randomly selected households as part of the Current Population Survey’s monthly update of national employment data. (News release on survey tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 8.)

Facts for Features: Halloween — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Halloween 2004. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 29.)

Facts for Features: Adoption Awareness Month — Statistical information from the Census Bureau’s demographic subject areas on adopted children. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 29.)

2002 Economic Census of Island Areas: Guam — Number of establishments, employees, shipments, revenue and payroll as of 2002. This is the first use of North American Industry Classification System codes in censuses of the island areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release the week of Aug. 8.)

2002 Economic Census: Industry Series Reports — Industry reports (for example, the manufacture of products such as pet foods, tortillas and roasted nuts). National information includes number of employees, payroll and sales, and receipts or value of shipments. Released on a flow basis at <http://www.census.gov/econ/census02/guide/INDSUMM.HTM>.

Radio

Profile America and Al Dia (Spanish) for August — Upcoming segments include the American Bar Association (Aug. 21), The Wizard of Oz (Aug. 25) and T-Shirts (Aug. 31). (See Recently Released section and Radio for release information.)

Multimedia

Back-To-School Multimedia Web Page — A collection of data links, story ideas and digital media tools designed for use in reporting and producing news features about the beginning of the new school year. The page will feature tables on the relationship between educational attainment and potential lifetime earnings. (Scheduled for release Aug. 17.)

Television

Back-To-School VNR — Highlights the relationship between education and salary. Interviews include Census Bureau Director Louis Kincannon; Adam Chavarria of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans; Sandy Baum, senior policy analyst at the College Board; and working students.
