Item 1.1: These represent only children and families served in the community through DCYF-funded prevention programs. For the most part, these children and families are not part of active DCYF caseloads. Programs include Comprehensive Emergency Services, Project Early Start, and Enhanced Early Start.

Item 2.2: Rhode Island can count more than one report source per report. "Social Services Personnel" includes mental health personnel.

Item 2.3: "Closed Without a Finding" includes unable to complete.

Item 4.9: This is the total number of child-specific petitions for CY98, and an advocate is appointed for every petition. Rhode Island can also provide a point-in-time figure, which tends to be larger than the total for the year because it includes child victims with advocates appointed in previous years.

Item 5.1: These data reflect information from DCYF investigations only.

Items 7.1 and 7.2: These numbers reflect a point in time. They include supervisors, but do not include administrative or clerical workers.
