Fires and smoke in Eastern Siberia

In eastern Siberia, numerous fires (red dots) were blanketing the region with smoke on August 22, 2002. In the false-color image, vegetation is bright green, burned and/or bare areas are reddish brown, and water is deep blue or black. Clouds are light blue or white.
