DAVID W. WILCOX CONFIRMED AS TREASURY ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR ECONOMIC POLICY

The U.S. Senate yesterday voted to confirm David W. Wilcox as the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy.

Dr. Wilcox was most recently a SeniorEconomist at the Federal Reserve Board in the Division of Monetary Affairs. He began hiswork with the Federal Reserve Board 11 years ago in the Division of Research andStatistics and has also served as a Senior Economist with the Council of EconomicAdvisers. In his work with the Federal Reserve Board, Dr. Wilcox focused on householdspending and saving, monetary policy strategy and issues related to the measurement of thecost of living.

As the Assistant Secretary for EconomicPolicy, Dr. Wilcox serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretaryon a wide range of domestic economic policy issues. Among other responsibilities, he willparticipate in developing the Administration’s official economic projections.

Dr. Wilcox received a Doctoral degree inEconomics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated Magna Cum Laudefrom Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. Dr. Wilcox was raised inWinnetka, Ill. and currently resides in Alexandria, Va. with his wife, Melynda.
