Areas of heavy rainfall developed late Monday evening, May 26th and persisted into early Tuesday morning, May 27th. The areas of localized heavy rainfall were noted just to the north of a stationary frontal boundary which stretched from west to east across Kansas. The heaviest rainfall amounts occurred over parts of Lincoln, Logan, Custer, Blaine, Loup, Garfield and Wheeler counties of Western and North Central Nebraska. The first image above shows the banded nature of this heavy rainfall on the storm total precipitation image obtained from the WSR-88D Doppler radar at Thedford. The second image shows an areal impact as mapped by Graphical Forecast Editor software on the National Weather Service AWIPS workstations. |
