Public Safety is priority one for Mayor Chávez.
The Mayor envisions a Police Department that will ensure a safe, secure community where the rights, history, and culture of each citizen is valued and respected.
The Mayor wants to give the Fire Department the equipment and training that will save lives, protect property and the environment ensuring fire fighter safety and survival.
Mayor Chávez will achieve his vision for the Police and Fire Departments by proactively collaborating with the community to identify and solve public safety problems and improve the quality of life in Albuquerque.
Public Safety Goals
- Albuquerque Police Department Recruiting
- Auto Theft Initiative to reduce Auto Theft occurrences.
- Family Advocacy Center (FAC), which provides a new approach to violent crime Investigation
- Cyber Stalking Initiative, a progressive method of fighting this 21st century emerging crime
- Emergency Management - Terrorism. Wildfire. Flooding. A major chemical spill. As a citizen of Albuquerque, you want to be ready. And so does your City government.
- Complete construction of and open Fire Station 22 at Mesa del Sol
- Continue training citizens in CPR and/or first aide at the community training center at the Albuquerque Fire Academy.
