Children's Bureau Funded Child Welfare Review Projects - The Children's Bureau funds four projects that provide support to the Children's Bureau in administering child welfare reviews:
The Child Welfare Reviews Project provides support to the Children's Bureau in administering the Child and Family Services Reviews. Their responsibilities include designing and implementing an automated review system; recruiting consultants for the CFSRs; designing and conducting trainings for consultant reviewers, Consultant Co-Local Site Leaders, and cross-State participants; supporting the Children's Bureau in planning and facilitating the reviews; and assisting the Children's Bureau Central and Regional Offices in tracking the status and outcomes of the reviews.

The Program Support for Child Welfare Monitoring Project works with the Children's Bureau in both the Central Office and ACF Regional Offices to assist with the implementation of all aspects of the CFSRs. Primary efforts include CFSR Onsite Review preparatory activities, direct support for CFSR Unit State leads, and consultation for State development of Program Improvement Plans (PIPs). Other responsibilities include analyzing CFSR findings and producing Final Reports, monitoring PIPs, partnering with States to identify needs and craft technical assistance for better outcomes and systems, and working with Federal partners to identify policy and practice trends and cross-cutting strategies. Regional Office consultants participate on IV-E reviews and provide input to Child and Family Services Five Year Plans and updates. They also coordinate activity to enhance collaboration between family courts and State child welfare programs to promote practice and systems reforms.

Technical Assistance to State Legislatures on the Child and Family Services Reviews
The Technical Assistance (TA) to State Legislatures on the Child and Family Services Reviews (CFSRs) Project offers TA to State legislators and State agency staff on child welfare reform and the CFSRs, including promoting strong working relationships and communication between legislators and agencies.

The Title IV-E Foster Care Eligibility Reviews Project (IV-E Review Project) assists the Children's Bureau in administering the title IV-E foster care eligibility reviews. Their responsibilities include recruiting and training peer reviewers for the foster care eligibility reviews, supporting the Children's Bureau Regional Office staff in planning the reviews, providing support to the Children's Bureau Central and Regional Offices staff in post-review follow-up, and preparing reports on topics related to the reviews.
