High Level Career Opportunities (Title 42)

The Title 42 hiring authority as codified in the Code of Federal Regulations enables ORD to attract and retain internationally-known scientific experts who are world-class scientists, engineers and leaders within their specialized fields. Title 42 appointees collaborate with ORD and Agency science staff and programs and assist at the highest levels to provide the research to support EPA's mission to protect human health and the environment.

US EPA's National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) is bringing together some of the world's foremost authorities on the science, study, and application of environmental research. NRMRL is the premier provider of risk management research, using both science and engineering to develop unique approaches as well as new technologies to solve the world's largest environmental problems. We are seeking the best and brightest—an exceptional and visionary senior leader who is an authority on environmental science or engineering—to lead research teams in investigating and defining emerging environmental issues and the science and technologies needed to resolve them. National Exposure Research Laboratory Division Director - Environmental Sciences (NERL-09-42-08):
The Office of Research and Development (ORD) seeks to recruit a senior scientist to hold a supervisory management and research leadership position as the Division Director for the Environmental Sciences Division (ESD) of the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL). The primary focus of ESD’s research program is to conduct research, development, and technology transfer programs on environmental exposures to ecological and human receptors. ESD, located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, develops methods for characterizing chemical and physical stressors, with special emphasis on ecological exposure. National Exposure Research Laboratory Division Director - Ecosystems Research (NERL-09-42-09):
he Office of Research and Development (ORD) seeks to recruit a senior scientist to hold a supervisory management and research leadership position as the Division Director for the Ecosystems Research Division (ERD) of the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL). The Ecosystems Research Division is located in Athens, Georgia, and performs research on approaches to multimedia modeling for landscape, nutrient and chemical stressors of ecosystems. The Office of Research and Development (ORD) seeks to recruit a senior scientist to hold a supervisory management and research leadership position as the Division Director for the Microbiological and Chemical Exposure Assessment Research Division (MCEARD) of the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL). Research and Development Job Opportunities for Students and Recent Graduates
The Research and Development team offers a unique and exciting career opportunity for students seeking scientific or administrative services experience in support of our mission. This opportunity is open to individuals at least 18 years old who are currently enrolled in a degree program at a recognized educational institution or are recent graduates (within one year of graduation for BS and MS degrees and two years of graduation for post docs). By means of flexible Personal Services Contracts, students are hired as Student Services Contractors to work with our various laboratories, research centers and offices located across the country. Student contractors partake in an intensive hands-on employment experience over a 12 month period (with an option for an additional 12 months) working side-by-side with EPA mentors and/or scientists, who will provide day-to-day direction and oversight.
