Your National Weather Service invites your participation in the annual National Flood Safety Awareness Week, March 16 to 20, 2009.

Today’s theme is Flood Safety and Preparation. Floods happen...an average of 100 deaths per year occurred between 1977 and 2006. Good preparation and knowing what to do in a flood will increase your safety and possibly your survival.

Some flood safety preparation tips include:


Refer to the Red Cross or the Federal Emergency Management Agency web sites for ideas and examples of disaster plans and disaster kits.
