Snow Making an Encore Performance

An Alberta Clipper will move across the upper Midwest late Friday night and early Saturday bringing snow to the area.  Snow will develop at Rockford around 11 pm, and overspread the Chicago area from west to east between 1 and 2 am... and then spread into northwest Indiana around 3 am. Snow will continue into Saturday morning (for a total of a 5-6 hour period) before diminishing to flurries or scattered light snow showers by noon everywhere.  An inch or two of accumulation of powdery snow can be expected in most areas, with perhaps 2 to 3 inches across far northern Illinois.  While the accumulation of snow expected is below the quanity the National Weather Service typically issues a weather advisory for, because of the pre-existing cold ground, snow will stick immeidately once it begins falling.  Also, brisk winds gusting to 30 mph will cause blowing and drifting snow.  Lake effect snow showers may affect parts of northwest Indiana mainly from Porter County eastward into Saturday evening. Here's the latest forecast information on today's expected snowfall:
