Latest Long Range Winter Outlook

The Climate Prediction Center released their latest outlook for the winter months of December, January, and February on October 16th. The long range winter temperature outlook for our region is calling for a much greater than normal chance of above average temperatures. The winter precipitation outlook calls for equal chances of above, below, or near normal precipitation, which means there is no clear climate signal pointing to one scenario more than another. As the forecast stands now, the Climate Prediction Center is not forecasting as harsh of a winter as last winter for the region, though this doesn't mean that there won't be any big snow storms, or severe cold snap, but rather it means that on the whole winter will average milder than normal.
