NWS Storm Survey Teams Investigating Damage from Last Evening's Storms
Three teams of meteorologists have been dispatched by the NWS to survey damage left in the wake of yesterday's storms. These teams are visiting the following areas: Griffith to Hobart, IN (Lake County, IN); near Boswell, IN (Benton County), from Woodland to Stockland, IL (southeast Iroquois County), the Addison - Bloomingdale - Glendale Heights, IL areas (DuPage County), and Bolingbrook, IL (far northern WIll County). Teams will be determining whether damage was caused by tornado or straight line (bow echo/microburst) winds. If a tornado is confirmed at any location, its EF rating, path length, path width, and start and end points will also be determined. This information should be available by 6 pm today and will be posted to this space.
