Easter Climate for Northern Illinois: Statistics for Chicago and Rockford

The following statistics comprises 137 years of data. However snowfall data started in 1885 so it comprises 124 years. Data collection began at the University of Chicago, then at Midway, and currently at O'Hare which is now the official station for Chicago.

Frequency distribution of high temperatures for Chicago. This dataset shows that the most frequent range of high temperatures on Easter is in the 40 to 49 degree range. Since Easter is not on a set day, there is no normal high temperature. The highest temperature on Easter is 85 degrees on April 10^th, 1977. The lowest high temperature on Easter is 19 degrees, which happened on March 25^th, 1894. Last year, on March 22^th, the high temperature was 37.

Frequency distribution of low temperatures for Chicago. This dataset shows that the most frequent range of low temperatures on Easter is in the 30 to 39 degree range. Since Easter isn’t on a set day, there is no normal low temperature. The lowest temperature for Chicago on Easter is 11, which happened on March 24^th in 1940. The highest low temperature on Easter is 62 which occurred on April 13^th of 1941. The low temperature last year on Easter was 27 degrees.

Frequency distribution of precipitation for Chicago. This dataset shows that the most frequent amount of precipitation recorded on Easter is 0.00”, which accounts for 42% of the days in the dataset.
