My current research interests emphasize using X-ray observations to study nucleosynthesis in supernova remnants. It is crucial to study the X-ray emission because the energetics of supernova explosions make X-rays the characteristic emission of gas heated by the passage of supernova shock waves. In young remnants, the stellar debris (or ejecta) dominate this emission, and provide a window into the properties of the progenitor, its explosion, and the subsequent evolution of the remnant. High quality imaging and spectral X-ray data are being obtained by the Chandra and XMM-Newton Observatories.
