Environmental Careers Program (ECP)

During October and November each participating EPA office will open their own specific ECP job announcement on USAJOBS (search for keyword, "ECP"). You are encouraged to visit USAjobs during this time frame and apply for any ECP specific job announcement that fits your background and interest. Please note, a variety of ECP announcements may open and close during this time frame. Please check USAJOBS periodically to catch new opportunities as they come available. Also, some offices may be recruiting at local career fairs.

About the Environmental Careers Program

The Environmental Careers Program (ECP) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a comprehensive, entry-level, professional, full-time employment and career development program. As a program participant, you will join an intensive two-year program to help you "jump-start" your career and develop your potential for future advancement within the Agency.

Attracting and retaining top-notch employees is crucial to the success of EPA. To foster both their personal and professional growth, ECPs participate in a two-year EPA familiarization and career development program. Key components of the program are:

Employment Information

Candidates selected to complete the ECP will be offered professional positions at the GS - 7 or 9 Grade level, at either EPA Headquarters or Regional Office locations.

The Environmental Career Program vacancy announcements will be posted in the Fall of each year on the Office of Personnel Management's web site at www.usajobs.opm.gov. We anticipate hiring approximately 25 to 30 ECP employees each year.
