Welcome to HPCAT!

The High Pressure Collaborative Access Team (HPCAT) was established in 1998 to advance cutting-edge, multidisciplinary, high-pressure science and technology using synchrotron radiation. HPCAT is a member-supported organization operated by the Geophysical Laboratory at the Carnegie Institution of Washington and located on Sector 16 at the Advanced Photon Source (APS) of Argonne National Laboratory. HPCAT has been open to users since 2002.

The developed four simultaneously operating beamlines include:
16ID-D: High pressure x-ray spectroscopy and scattering beamline
            Now installed with two undulators!
16ID-B: High pressure x-ray diffraction beamline
16BM-D: High pressure x-ray diffraction and spectroscopy beamline
16BM-B: High pressure x-ray diffraction beamline with white beam
