Personal Fall Arrest Systems
(PFAS)

systems. It specifies requirements for the design and performance of complete
active fall-protection systems, including travel-restraint and vertical and
horizontal fall-arrest systems.
ANSI/ASSE Z359.12-2009
Connecting Components for Personal Fall Arrest Systems
This standard establishes requirements for the performance, design, marking,
qualification, test methods and removal from service of connectors.

Personal Energy Absorbers and Energy Absorbing Lanyards
This standard establishes requirements for the performance, design, marking,
qualification, instructions, inspection, maintenance and removal from service
of energy absorbing lanyards and personal energy absorbers. It is
the intention of this standard to require all energy absorbing lanyards
and personal energy absorbers to reduce the forces implied on the user
to less than 10 G’s (10 times the normal gravitational pull of the
Earth). Users must be within the range of 130 to 310 lbs (59 -

ASSE is now an authorized seller of the Board of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditor Certifications' recently revised SH&E auditing voluntary national consensus standard titled: “Performance and Program Standards for the Professional Practice of Environmental, Health and Safety Auditing.” The document is notable for:
• Describes the role and responsibilities of EH&S auditing to all levels of management, boards of directors, public bodies, internal and external auditors and related professional organizations
• Establishes the basis for guidance and measurement of EH&S auditing performance
• Improves the practice of EH&S auditing and advance the EH&S auditing profession
This standard is a revision of their popular 1999 version and the final document includes a breakdown of the key changes between the 1999 and 2008 versions and is available in both hard copy or electronic copy.
"We set out to ensure that this book was first a collection of tried-and-true
information."
- Joel Haight, Editor
With nearly 8 years in the making, this is ASSE's most expansive publishing endeavor. "It has a bit of the feel of an encyclopedia, but with more of a story -- and filled with applied and real examples of the points made," says Dr. Haight.
"There is an applied nature to the book that comes from the foundation of the science and engineering of safety," adds Dr. Haight. "Coupled with the insight and creativity of the authors, this has resulted in a book that will provide readers with the tools they need to learn the field and to continue its effective practice all the way to retirement."
