get you started electronically filing your W-2s
with the Social Security Administration.
For starters, filing electronically is free,
fast and secure!
When you file electronically, you receive an extra month to file
because electronically filed W-2s aren’t due until
March 31st. You’ll also receive an acknowledgement receipt.

Business Service
Online offers two options to file W-2s electronically.
 If you use
compatible payroll software, you can upload files using the Wage
File Upload application. If you use payroll software, we recommend
that you test it before filing using SSA’s free software Accuwage.
If you don’t
have payroll software, consider using the W-2
Online application which allows you to key your W-2 information
directly to our website in the W-2 format and print these for your
employees.
Business
Services Online also offers W-2c
Online if you need to correct any W-2 errors.
You can verify
SSNs online by using SSNVS.
