Friday, September 15, 1995 -- The Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) today announced release of the publication, Internet Starter Kit, and a related video, Your Roadmap to the Internet.

"The department's Bureau of Transportation Statistics has provided a valuable service for those of us who require transportation information," Secretary of Transportation Federico Peña said. "Users of transportation statistics are provided with a basic overview of the Internet with specific focus on the transportation community."

The starter kit and video trace the history of the Internet and its evolution into the most widely used information resource today. The video also includes information on connection options, search tools and how to find transportation-related resources on-line.

Dr. T.R. Lakshmanan, Director of BTS said, "Accessibility to this technology is vital to the transportation community. Now, planners and policy makers around the country may access information quickly by using a variety of interactive Internet devices."
