RE: Points of Contact at DFAS for Unidentified Child Support Payments

Dear Colleague:

The purpose of this letter is to provide you with a contact person at the Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS) who can give you further information if your state disbursement unit (SDU) receives a U. S. Treasury check from DFAS that you cannot match to a case file. These contacts are only for the purpose of helping to identify checks already received or deposited in your SDU which cannot be distributed to the families. DFAS has identified a contact at each branch of the service and the enclosed page lists those contacts.

In an earlier Dear Colleague Letter (DC-00-15, dated 2/7/2000) we gave you contact information for the DFAS person(s) designated as the point-of-contact for re-direction of payments to your SDUs. Currently that point of contact is assisting states with re-direction of payments from counties to SDUs as states implement their SDUs.
