This afternoon's SeaWiFS pass over the eastern United States shows how the season has painted the Appalachian Mountains orange. The small wedge-shaped cloud in Ontario north of Lake Huron and east of Lake Superior looks like smoke from a forest fire. Several smaller smoke plumes are also visible scattered around North Carolina and Virginia.
