A huge bank of fog hangs over the North Sea between Norway (top right), Denmark (right center), and the United Kingdom (left) in this true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image from March 28, 2003. A few scattered fires are marked in red dots. Over the bottom part of the scene, skies are hazy, likely due to smoke from fires burning in Eastern Europe and Western Russia.
