The Governor’s Arts Awards recognize and bring honor to individuals and organizations for their significant contributions to the arts in Oklahoma. Nomination forms are due into the Oklahoma Arts Council's office no later than August 6, 2009.

New Strategic Plan approved

A new Strategic Plan for 2009 - 2014 has been approved by the Oklahoma Arts Council. Please see the new Plan that clearly articulates our vision for the future of the arts in Oklahoma.

New Deadline for Local Government Challenge Grants May 15

Did you know your local city or county government could be awarded a grant that will help 501 (c) (3) arts organizations in your community?

That's why you should alert your city, county, or town government about this grant opportunity. The grant provides an incentive to localities to contribute local tax revenues to the arts.

Let them know that the city must contact Grants Director Kim McCoy at (405) 521-2040 prior to May 1st, to receive access to our NEW on-line e-grant application.

Oklahoma City artist Kristen Vails uses the horse as a vehicle for expression, and her work captures the spiritual aspects in nature that relate with the human condition. She describes herself as one of those horse crazy girls whose parents gave in and fulfilled her desire to roam the Oklahoma countryside on horseback. More...

Unscarred by Spur or Rod is currently on display at the State Capitol in the East Gallery located on the 1st floor and is open daily from 8:00-5:30.

China Re-Collections
North Gallery

In Jarvis’ exhibit, China Re-Collections, the artist gives the viewer an insider’s perspective of an ancient land. In July 2006, he spent the month discovering China not as a tourist, but with three Chinese friends. He visited a rural county where he was the first Caucasian there in three years. Jarvis said that he discovered that the country and the people were much different from what he expected. More...

China Re-Collections is currently on display at the State Capitol in the North Gallery located on the 1st floor and is open daily from 8:00-5:30.
