Attached please find a copy of the Notice of Availability of FY 2006 Discretionary Funds for Preventive Health services to refugees. Since state refugee agencies and those agencies with statewide responsibility for alternatives to state-administered refugee programs are the only eligible applicants, this announcement is being mailed to these agencies and posted on the ORR website at http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/orr. It will not be published in the Federal Register.
The closing date for applications is February 28, 2006. All applications must be received by this date to be considered. This closing date applies to both hard copy applications submitted via mail and electronic applications submitted to http://www.Grants.gov. The receipt-date requirement is new for this program. Applications will not be accepted if post-marked by the closing date.
The purpose of the Refugee Preventive Health discretionary grant program is to ensure the coordination of available preventive health services for refugees, asylees, entrants and other eligible populations. Applicants must describe how these funds will fill gaps in the current array of health screening services available to refugees and how program funds will enhance the coordination of preventive health services within their State.
ORR will schedule two separate conference calls prior to the closing date to provide answers to any questions you may have specific to this discretionary grant announcement. Dates, times and call-in information for both conference calls will be communicated to you by e-mail early in 2006.
