Mobile Lucky Paws

Have pets, will travel.

That's how the new "Mobile Lucky Paws" is making its mark around Albuquerque; by bringing more pets to more corners of the city...in style.

The new Adoption Van was unveiled by Mayor Martin J. Chávez at a news conference at Animal Welfare on December 8, 2007.  It's covered with familiar scenes of Albuquerque and pets, including a picture of Dukes, Albuquerque's "First Pet." It has capacity for up to 30 dogs and cats, but will carry an average of 20 pets in air-conditioned or heated comfort. The “Mobile Lucky Paws” is making appearances around the city to boost adoptions, but for now it is primarily scheduled five days a week at stores in and around Cottonwood Mall to better serve Westside Albuquerque; a vastly underserved area for adoptions which until budget cuts had been due to get a permanent Lucky Paws store at Cottonwood Mall.

Says Animal Welfare Director Jeanine L. Patterson, MS, RN, "we’re calling it the “Mobile Lucky Paws” because it will bring the individual attention and interaction Lucky Paws is famous for to people all over Albuquerque. We hope to bring a high level of service to underserved Westside Albuquerque with our van, until we can one day build a new Lucky Paws in the area."

Look for our Mobile Lucky Paws as it becomes a fixture around town…especially on the Northwest side of Albuquerque.
