Chief Science Officer

The Chief Science Officer (CSO) for CDC is the primary advisor to the director on scientific and medical matters and provides agency-wide scientific leadership. The CSO directs the Office of the Chief Science Officer, which provides the agency with scientific vision and leadership in science innovation, research, ethics, and science administration.


Associate Director for Science

The Associate Director for Science (ADS) is the agency’s ultimate clearance official, responsible for ensuring excellence and integrity in all aspects of CDC’s scientific activities and products. The ADS provides guidance and assistance to CDC’s scientific community on scientific policy issues that affect the planning and implementation of public health practice and research activities.


Assistant Science Officer

The Assistant Science Officer (ASO) serves as the primary deputy to the Chief Science Officer. The ASO assists the CSO with the development and execution of scientific and research strategies in support of CDC’s mission and assists with coordination of agency-wide scientific activities within CDC and with external partners.


Special Projects Lead

The Special Projects Lead of the Office of the Chief Science Officer provides administrative oversight of activities in support of OCSO’s mission and core functions. This position provides leadership in implementation of new OCSO activities and special projects.
