Office of the Chief Scientist
Mission Statement
The Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) serves as the Agency’s focus for scientific, medical, and other related activities in the Office of the Commissioner. The office is comprised of the Deputy Commissioner/Chief Medical Officer who assists the Commissioner in planning, executing, and monitoring FDA scientific and medical projects and programs.
This office is comprised of the Office of Critical Path Programs, the Office of Pediatric Therapeutics, the Office of Combination Products, the National Center for Toxicological Research, and the Office of Science and Health Coordination (OSHC). OSHC is comprised of the Office of Women's Health, the Office of Orphan Product Development, and the Good Clinical Practices Program.
OCS is also responsible for the implementation and overall management of the FDA Commissioner's Fellowship Program.
