NCUA to Launch Updated Website

May 18, 2009, Alexandria, Va. -- The National Credit Union Administration is debuting an updated and enhanced website on May 20, 2009, that will provide users with easier access to agency information and data.

Internet websites are a constant work in progress and www.ncua.gov  is evolving with the agency.  While site content is generally unchanged, the new format is designed in a more organized and efficient manner.  A new ‘Help Page’ has been added to assist users in finding information on the site.

The reorganized Homepage includes a prominent gray bar across the top with drop down menus that lead to most of the information available on the website.  Two rows of blue rectangular buttons contain programs of significant importance. The center of the Homepage contains ‘Latest Headlines’, which link to the latest NCUA actions and is updated daily. The right-hand column contains Share Insurance Information, Agency Alerts and Consumer Information, Upcoming Events and Highlights. Content will change as emergency information such as Hurricane response or Terrorism Alerts are posted.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is the independent federal agency that charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, operates the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), insuring the deposits of nearly 90 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the vast majority of state-chartered credit unions. NCUA is funded by credit unions, not tax dollars.
