NCUA Launches Summer Transit Bus Advertisement Campaign 

June 10, 2009, Alexandria, Va. – Last week NCUA launched a summer transit bus advertisement campaign. The campaign, which began on June 1 and runs through August 31, advertises NCUA Share Insurance ads on local transit buses in nine major metropolitan areas in three states- Arizona, California, Florida, and the District of Columbia.

The ad, pictured below, reaffirms the security of member deposits in federally insured credit union and is currently being displayed in the interior of a total of 1,700 transit buses.

“This campaign is an additional step in NCUA’s overall efforts to make certain that the public is fully aware of the safety of NCUSIF insurance,” stated Chairman Michael E. Fryzel. “The trying financial times have made it essential that consumers are reassured about their credit union funds. I remain confident that this highly visible advertisement will underscore the safe alternative that is NCUSIF insurance,” noted Fryzel.

The National Credit Union Administration charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the accounts of nearly 90 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions. NCUA is funded by credit unions, not federal tax dollars.
