The National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for an Elder Justice Community Collaborations project, administered by the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse for the NCEA. The RFP supports the development of multidisciplinary coalitions at the local level by providing on-site training and technical assistance to Area Agencies on Aging, Title VI Grantees, and/or community organizations interested in developing new elder justice coalitions.

The deadline for application is Friday, August 28, 2009, at 5:00pm EST.

Elder Abuse: A Global Issue - From Trinidad and Tobago to Mumbai, India … from Paris, France to Jefferson City, Missouri ... from Tokyo, Japan to Dublin, Ireland ... learn how regions around the globe observed the 4th annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

In early July, advocates from around the world convened at the Palais des Congres in Paris, France, to report on events and initiatives, progress, and challenges related to elder abuse in their respective countries. Read a summary of these reports.

Across the U.S., art contests, conferences, public forums, balloon lifts, shred-a-thons, barbecues, and even a fraud fashion show were among the many events that marked the 4th observance of World Day. Here is a sampler of state happenings.
