International CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2008

January 7-10, 2008

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

The Consumer Electronics Show is considered as “the” inevitable informatics tradeshow. The first exhibition was born in New York City in 1967 (200 exhibitors and 17.500 attendees) and kept developing over the years. It occurred in January 2008 in Las Vegas and was the meeting point of 2.500 exhibitors spread on 13.000 m2, and 130.000 visitors.

It was a trade-only show and was not open to the general public. At the show, many previews of products were introduced, or new products were announced. Indeed, many of the product you use daily came into light during this event the past years: video player, CD-player, RDS system, DSS system, the Home Media Server, the DVD Blu-ray, and other audio products, new technologies, games, home cinema, smart vehicles, wireless technologies.

At the show, you could attend free conferences offered by public figures. One of the highlights was Bill Gates’ keynote speech – look on http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/exec/billg/speeches/2008/01-062008CESBillGates.mspx - in which he announced his retirement from his daily duties at Microsoft, and presented how his last day with Microsoft would be like.
