Can other planets in the solar system effect things on earth like the tides or weather?
No. In some cases the orbit of one object in our solar system (such as asteroids or moons) is influenced by the gravitational forces of other objects, but this is not the case for Earth. Tides raised on the Earth by other planets are negligible, and there is no electromagnetic influence either. Jupiter does, however, block some comets from hitting the Earth. David Morrison
