EEO is responsible for investigation of harassment complaints and procedures for Erie County employees. Reports are mandated by the by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commissions and other regulatory authorities and are complied and filed by the County's EEO Office. EEO monitors the county's personnel and hiring procedures to assure compliance with the county's affirmative action plan.
The EEO office audits county contracts for goods, services, and construction to maintain participation goals for Minority Business enterprises (MBE's) and Women Business Enterprises (WBE's). Services are provided to facilitate MBE and WBE access to county contracts. County Departments, agencies and administrative units are monitored for compliance with utilization plan for MBE's and WBE's on county contracts construction, purchases and for professional technical and other consultant services.
EEO Office has the responsibility of training County employees and supervisors regarding harassment, discrimination, and retaliation policies and practices and managing work place diversity programs.
The mission of Erie County's EEO Division is to help cultivate and enrich a work and public service environment that promote respect and dignity for all persons including employees, vendors, guests and the general public. Artificial barriers based on race, color, sex, religion , national origin, disability, sexual orientation, military status, marital status, creed, familial status, arrest or conviction record and/or age that affect the work climate are addressed and/or eliminated.
