  1. New Potent Greenhouse Gas Discovered July 27, 2000

    Scientists in Germany have detected a previously unreported, yet strong greenhouse gas compound in the atmosphere, trifluoromethyl sulphur pentaflouride. Because this molecule is a very strong greenhouse gas and has a long lifetime, its production is now restricted under the Kyoto Protocol. (Max Planck Institute for Chemistry release)
