    Description: The Office of Acupuncture Licensure regulates individuals providing acupuncture under a traditional oriental medicine philosophy. Acupuncture is defined as a system of health care based upon traditional oriental medical concepts that employ oriental methods of diagnosis, treatment, and adjunctive therapies for the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health and prevention of disease. Licensed acupuncturists in Colorado have completed schooling acceptable to the National Certification Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and have passed the national certification examinations. Acupuncture can also be performed by qualified medical physicians and chiropractors, but those individuals are regulated by their own professional boards, and not the Office of Acupuncture Licensure.

    Description: The Office of Administrative Courts (OAC) is Colorado's centralized administrative court system. Most States and the federal government have established similar specialized legal processes within the executive branch. This structure enables both agencies and citizens to have certain disputes resolved while avoiding the time and expense of litigation in district court. In 1976, the General Assembly created Division of Administrative Hearings as a central panel of administrative law judges ("ALJs") to decide workers' compensation, human services, licensing, and a variety of other cases.

Since 1950 avalanches have killed more people in Colorado than any other natural hazard, and in the United States, Colorado accounts for one-third of all avalanche deaths. With a staff of 15 avalanche professionals, we achieve our purpose through a dual mission of forecasting and public education.
