ABSTRACT: The Case Management System (CMS) tracks all cases and matters litigated within the Civil Rights Division. The Civil Rights Division enforces federal statutes prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, sex handicap, religion, and national origin in the following areas: education, employment, housing, credit, public accommodations and facilities, voting, criminal civil rights, certain federally funded and conducted programs, persons confined to public institutions, access to reproductive clinic entrances, and immigration related unfair employment practices.

PURPOSE: The CMS provides a mechanism for entry, storage, tracking and reporting of matters and cases. The data is used internally to collect division-wide statistics. Case management is a term used to encompass the ability to input, process, and output information to Section, Division, and Departmental personnel for case management and workload purposes.

ACCESS CONSTRAINTS: All records in the CMS are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative and technical safeguards. Access is restricted for those employees with a need-to-know to perform their official duties.

USE CONSTRAINTS: Users of the CMS will be restricted to only privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.

AGENCY PROGRAM: The CMS is utilized to support all cases and matters within the Division.

SOURCES OF DATA: Information for the system is supplied by all Sections within the Division.
