The term seismic seiche was first coined by Anders Kvale in 1955, to describe oscillation of lake levels in Norway and England caused by the Assam earthquake of August, 1950.

Epicenter
6.0 The earthquake was centered about 800 kilometers northwest of Bandar Abbas. The earthquake killed at least 348, injured about 200, and caused damage over an area of approximately 150 square kilometers. The area that received the heaviest damage was southwest of Isfahan near the Zagross Mountains about 400 kilometers south of Tehran.
