AFSC Outreach: 2007 Washington Science Teachers Association Conference
Three NOAA booths at the WSTA conference offered a large variety of teacher resources to attendees. |
|
Northwest Regional Education & Outreach Group (NWREOG) members coordinated three NOAA booths providing a variety of resources available to educators from NOAA. The booths mainly featured information about the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), the National Weather Service (NWS), and the National Ocean Service (NOS), but efforts were made also to include information from other offices, such as the NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration, the National Marine Sanctuaries and Sea Grant.
Rebecca Reuter (NMFS/AFSC) and Ted Buehner (NWS) presented a PowerPoint on NOAA programs which provide resources and opportunities for science teachers (.pdf of the PowerPoint, 3.7MB *).
Almost 1,000 teachers attended the 2007 Washington Science Teachers Association Conference and most of them stopped by the NOAA booth. This is one of three regional conferences that the NWREOG has decided needs a "One NOAA" presence each year.
