USGS Colorado Water Science Center HighlightsEventsWater, Energy, and Biogeochemical Budgets (WEBB) Program: Loch Vale WatershedLoch Vale is an alpine/subalpine watershed in Rocky Mountain National Park where the U.S. Geological Survey has been conducting research since the 1980s. Research is focused on the effects of climate change and atmospheric pollutants on water, soil, vegetation, and aquatic life. Featured PublicationsData Series 307

Estimating Prediction Uncertainty from Geographical Information System Raster Processing: A User’s Manual for the Raster Error Propagation Tool (REPTool) By Jason J. Gurdak, Sharon L. Qi, and Michael L. Geisler Of Current InterestUSGS Investigations on Ground-Water Trends Released in Journal of Environmental Quality (JEQ)The September/October issue of Journal of Environmental Quality (JEQ) features in-depth U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) investigations of national and regional trends in ground-water quality in the United States. The release of these investigations, primarily focusing on nitrate, pesticides, and pesticide degradates, marks the first of many trends-studies to follow by the USGS National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program. Included in the JEQ are two reports by Colorado authors: Suzanne S. Paschke and others - Near-Decadal Changes in Nitrate and Pesticide Concentrations in the South Platte River Alluvial Aquifer, 1993–2004 Michael G. Rupert - Decadal-Scale Changes of Nitrate in Ground Water of the United States, 1988–2004 Overall findings, summaries of the other USGS investigations featured in the JEQ, and author contact information are available at http://water.usgs.gov/nawqa/Rosen.trends.09262008.pdf |
