Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Tye Conklin, a rescue swimmer from Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., is awarded the Air Medal by Capt. Conklin received the Air Medal after rescuing one person from a sailboat that ran aground off the coast of Ocean City, Md., and two people aboard the research boat Russell W. POINT LOOKOUT, Md. - A Coast Guard rescue boatcrew from Station Inigoes, Md., prepares Ted Kalandras, a man they rescued near Point Lookout, Md., to be hoisted by a helecopter rescue crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City N.J., for medical treatment after his 24-foot boat capsized, Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008. Kalandras was transported to St. Mary's Hospital.

A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., hoisted four people from a sailboat, 172 miles east of Wilmington, Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. The helicopter rescue crew hoisted all four people from their life raft and transported them to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. All four people are listed in good condition.
