Officer Boards, Promotions, and Separations Branch CG PSC (opm-1)
Boards Section
Promotion years are 01 July through the following 30 June. As board reports are approved and signed by the Secretary, current promotion year precepts are added. Selection boards are to consider individuals for promotion to the next higher grade. Designation and appointment boards consider individuals to transfer into that specialty. As board reports are approved and signed by the Secretary, current promotion year results are added. This is a work in progress to get back board results and precepts.

The communications should be in standard Coast Guard memorandum format addressed to the President of the particular board. This should only address matters of the officer's record. See the Communications to the Board section on the FAQ.
All members of promotion boards are volunteers.
The following are guidelines for volunteering for Active Duty Promotion

EAD contract)
2. Should be O-3 or above (note, there are very few opportunities for O-3s
