Brief project summary:
The emergence of PacIOOS is being coordinated by the East-West Center
(EWC) in collaboration with partners in the Pacific Risk Management
Ohana (PRiMO), the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) and other Federal agencies, State and local governments, academia,
the private sector and non-government organizations. With funding from
NOAA's Coastal Services Center the EWC has begun a three-year initial
PacIOOS development activity focused on the following objectives:
- Engage providers and users in an effective partnership to identify
information needs and design and to evaluate PacIOOS information products
and services;
- Assess the state of the regional observing system(s) and identify
critical gaps;
- Establish a PacIOOS Regional Association with appropriate program
oversight, coordination and implementation mechanisms.
