News Widget (version 1.3)

BART service advisories and news right on your computer's desktop!

BART News WidgetBART is always looking for useful new ways to communicate with customers, so we're trying out an exciting tool that delivers BART information to you quickly and easily: the Official BART RSS Widget displays the latest BART service advisories and news updates in a small window right on your desktop.

What's a Widget?

"Widgets" are small applications that run on your desktop. There are different kinds of widget technology out there, but the Official BART RSS Widget uses the Yahoo! Widget Engine, available for both Windows and Mac OS X.

System Requirements:
The Yahoo! Widget Engine requires Windows XP SP1 or newer, or Windows 2000 SP2 or newer, or Mac OS X 10.3 or newer and an Internet connection. 512 megabytes of RAM is recommended.

I Want It!

Step 1:
If you haven't already, download and install the Yahoo! Widget Engine from widgets.yahoo.com. For more information, Yahoo! has a list of top questions and widget basics.

Step 2:
Unzip the download it and place the "BART RSS" widget file in the My Documents/My Widgets folder (in Windows) or ~/Documents/Widgets (in Mac OS X).

Step 3:
Launch "BART RSS Widget" from your task tray in Windows (the little silver gears in a black box) or your system menu bar in Mac OS X (the gear icon to the left of Apple's menu extras). For more information, consult the Yahoo! list of top questions and the widget basics tutorial.

Don't get stuck with an out-of-date widget!
We'll send you an email when there's an update. We'll only contact you when a new version is available. Sign up now.

What's Next?
We'd like to see if widgets are "catching on" with BART customers and, if there's a market for further development, and what new features might be appealing (e.g. BART trip planning or other services). We value your opinion and we'd like to hear your thoughts.
